With the advent of WAP 2.0 and xHTML MP particularly the mobile devices and the whole mobile network have made a significant step forward towards the integration with the Internet. More content and services are becoming available on the mobile near you these days. In Latvia, however, there wasn't many truly versatile, feature-enriched mobile services for the public so far. Lattelekom is on the mission to alter the status quo. The new, feature-enriched mobile portal otoPILOT is one of the first services that make your tiny mobile screen fit the never ending content of the Internet.

We were on the mission to bring the Lattelekom R&D team's vision to life. In our scope we had integrating the pilot project's content and several up-and-running Lattlekom web projects' databases into the single system, designing the user interfaces and making sure the system is accessible with WAP 1.2.1 and WAP 2.0 devices. We were also given a task to design highly attractive promo website for the service.

The project that seemed simple from the first sight appeared to be sophisticated and challenging right after the start. We met a number of difficulties: the technology drawbacks - the WAP browsers on most of the phones didn't work according to the specifications; the project scope has changed - the OTO part was taken into the scope; the project's organizational complexity has slowed down the development - involvement of Lattelekom, Verdi and DEAC projects made management and coordination a hard task. Nevertheless, our deep and versatile experience in mobile technologies, dedication to excellence, the ability to learn fast, as well as full commitment to the customer, have finally conquered all the hardships As a result we have designed a beautiful WAP portal, and also developed outstanding promotional website, which served as a basis for further promotional material.
